How do abandoned carts work?

Recover lost sales with automatic recovery links.

When a customer starts the checkout but doesn't complete the purchase, Whatalo automatically saves their information as an "abandoned cart" (checkout draft).

After 30 minutes of inactivity, the system marks the cart as abandoned and generates a unique recovery link. This link takes the customer back to checkout with all their data pre-filled, making it easier for them to complete the purchase.

Step by step

  1. 1The customer starts the checkout and provides at least one contact detail (email or phone).
  2. 2If they don't complete the purchase within 30 minutes, it is marked as abandoned.
  3. 3A unique and secure recovery link is generated.
  4. 4You can send that link to the customer via WhatsApp or email.
  5. 5When they open the link, the form appears pre-filled with their data.

Important information

  • The availability of this feature depends on your plan.
  • At least an email or phone from the customer is required to save the draft.
  • The system verifies that there is no recent order before marking it as abandoned (avoids false positives).
  • Captured data includes: products, quantities, contact details, address, and totals.
